FAQ
How long are the sessions?
Each session is for a maximum of 30 minutes per dog. Session times can be shorter with group sessions
How should I prepare for my session?
Do not feed your dog at least 1 hour prior to the session. We will text you when we are on our way to your location. Take your dog out for a potty break shortly before our session.
How often do you recommend I schedule my dog?
No more than once per week. Weekly dog runs around the same time will help your dog physically and mentally as they will be able to anticipate their workout session. You should schedule your dog's workout routine by how they react to their workout and schedule accordingly.
Can you workout multiple dogs at the same time?
Yes, but only if the dogs live together or are pre-approved neighbors/friends. Dogs that know each other can run together, but otherwise the session is private.
What my dog doesn't get along with other dogs?
You will have a private 30-minute session.
What can I expect before my session?
You should plan to contact us or book several days in advance; same day appointments can be hard to accommodate. Appointments are for 30 minutes, please feed your dog at least 1 hour prior to their session, 2 hours is preferred. You will receive confirmation of your appointment and a text from us when we are on our way to your scheduled appointment. Make sure to provide you dog with a potty break prior to our arrival. If you have a harness that you prefer, please put it on, if not we will provide one for safety and comfort. When we arrive, bring your dog out to our mobile dog run gym. If you have any issues bring your dog outside, please let us know.
What can I expect after my session?
You can expect your dog to be tired. They just had a good workout! Wait until their heart rate slows before feeding. Some dogs get a burst of energy after their session. They just had a good workout and their endorphins and adrenaline are pumping. Once their heart rate slows down and they relax, the energy will burn off. For unconditioned or older dogs, we recommend massaging their hind legs to release lactic acid and prevent soreness the next few days. Next sessions can be after the appointment, or online at dappermypup.com.
How long does it take for my dog to learn to use the treadmills?
Each dog has a different learning curve, it is typically about 5 minutes for them to feel stable and to move on their own. Once your dog feels comfortable on the treadmill and their confidence grows, they begin to move better. Our treadmills have no motors, they are self-propelled by the dogs, and we are there to monitor them for their safety. As their confidence grows so does the speed that they move at.
Do I need to be home for the session?
For your FIRST appointment, we require that someone is home for us to meet and to introduce us to your dog! We love meeting our new clients and being properly introduced to your pets. It makes your pet less anxious and keeps us safe! After your first appointment we can talk about getting your dog on a regular grooming schedule and using our Latch Key service.
How is payment handled?
Payment is accepted by cash, check or card. You will then have the option to set up a reoccurring schedule! For group events, payment will be due at time of scheduling.
What are your requirements to work with my dog?
Clear all physical activity with your veterinarian. Your dog must be between 10 and 150 pounds, at least 4 months old and be up to date on all vaccinations. We work with a variety of different physical and mental concerns with your dogs; anxious, scared, stubborn, overweight, needing physical therapy. Please let us know what your dog needs and we will try our best to accommodate.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations less than 24 hours before the appointment will be charged $25. No-call or no-shows will be charge full price.
Why Dogs love it!
Mobility
Is your dog elderly or in need of improved mobility? Our treadmills are low-resistance, low-impact, and they're stationed in an insulated and climate-controlled van. Potential overheating is of no concern.
Health and Wellness
Lifespans of dogs with a healthy body weight average an additional 2.5 years. Keeping your dog fit and healthy is the best way to avoid expensive vet bills in the future. During each session we continuously encourage your pup to walk, jog, or run at their pace!
Weather
Michigan's weather can be unpredictable. Heat and humidity have the potential to be life threatening to dogs, and the rain/snow can put a damper on your walks. We are a year-round service to help you manage every season!
Living Arrangements
Live in an apartment? Worried about unleashed dogs during neighborhood strolls? Don't stress over packing up your pup, fighting the traffic, and sitting in the elements just to monitor every interaction at the dog park. We come to you, on your schedule!
Behavior
Under-stimulated dogs can develop hyper and destructive habits. And those that miss out due to reactivity or anxiety are able to release pent-up energy in the comfort of their own personal bubble. We are here to help your dog be the best pup they can be!
